more baby stuff

July 23, 2010

Speaking of shopping, my wife went out again for a little bit of shopping. You see, most of the baby stuff we bought were on the safe side, meaning almost all are white in color. Pretty boring, right? But when we finally found out that we’re having a boy, my wife had another reason to go shopping. And I think she’s having a great time.

This time though, she went out with her mom, and together they visited our country’s shopping haven, Divisoria, where you can find anything and everything! Vendors here sell used books, to food, to clothes, to anything!

They went one early weekday so that there won’t be a lot of people. I was in school when I received a text message from her telling me that we have all the baby stuff we need. Finally! And so when I got home later, she showed me this huge bag filled with more baby stuff.

I guess we’re ready.

Hello Baby

Ever since we found out that we’re pregnant, my wife has been bugging me to visit this baby clothing store in Bel-Air Makati. Of course, I’ve been stalling and giving various reasons to put it off. Shopping isn’t really one of my strengths, and I easily get bored. Even when my wife would drag me searching for personalized lip balm or just to look at shoes, it takes no time before I yawn and get sleepy.

But I guess I can’t delay it anymore, and I caved. So one Saturday afternoon, we stopped by to check it out.

The store is called Hello Baby, and it looks like a repository of excess baby clothes from factories ordered by clients. The quality looks good, and the best part is it’s cheaper compared to malls. Clothes range from 60 pesos to 90 pesos. Told you it was cheap! But my wife held back a litle because we might end up having too many clothes that the baby will outgrow fast. Of course we plan to go back!

baby threadless

July 9, 2010

Now that we know the baby is a boy, my wife and I can’t wait to go out and buy more baby stuff. You see, we pretty much stayed on the safe safe and mostly bought safe colors (white). Which isn’t so bad, really. But of course we wanted some colors too. And so we’ve been busy looking around. And so while I was online one time googling for hcg diet recipes, I thought of visiting my favorite shirt store and found these shirts and onesies too cute!

veto

Eversince my wife got pregnant, we’ve been thinking of baby names. And now that we’ve narrowed it down to just boy names, you’d think it’ll be much easier. She has her taste, and I have my preferences. And we can’t seem to agree on one. Whenever one of us thinks of a great name, the other one veto’s it. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if our baby’s name ends up to be Veto. :)

But seriously, more than the name, I’m much more concerned about the baby’s health. And we’re praying real hard that he wouldn’t get those deseases being passed down. We want him to grow up big and healthy, not needing the best multivitamin for men. And of course we’re very excited to see how he looks: what features he got from my side and how much work we need to fix those he got from my wife. :)

sleeping on the MRT

It’s like one vicious cycle. Just when you think it’s over and done with, here comes another wave. I’ll be needing pronexin soon because breakouts are starting on my forehead. I am writing this with just three hours of sleep. As if my school work isn’t heavy enough, I have some assignments and freelance work to juggle.

sleep

It seems like we have an exam and/or project due everyday. And all those long nights are starting to catch up on me as I find myself falling asleep quite easily, whether it’s at the MRT, bus, or jeepney. I actually almost missed my exit because I fell asleep on the MRT. Good thing there were very few people, and I was able to get out.

I’m not complaining. These are things needed to be done for a better future. It’s just that sometimes it all comes down all at the same time. And this has been one really busy week.

it’s a boy!

July 7, 2010

After months of guessing, the baby finally cooperated, and we were able to peek and know its gender.

I guess this pretty much explains the strong kicks. My wife would often tell me how she’d be interrupted when kicks start coming. And there are times too when she’d feel the baby pushing and pounding on her belly as if wanting to come out. So at night, I talk to the baby and tell him to wait a while longer and not rush. I guess he’s very excited to see the world. And we’re very excited to him too.

But I’m not thoroughly excited about the other things that come with caring for our baby. I don’t know what to do when he poops and how to handle changing diapers! Remember Yuan? There was one time when we were in the car and he pooped! Never mind the stinky smell, but changing diapers in the car was the biggest dilemma. We had to park on one of those roadside assistance areas to properly change him and dispose of the stinking diaper.

I can now imagine how busier we’d be. I know we’d be very tired taking care of him, but I also know how rewarding it is.

frustrating program

June 30, 2010

frustrated

I mentioned the last time that a lot of us are having a difficult time, right? And just when I was thinking that it couldn’t possibly get any worse, well, it did. It got harder!

We were doing some exercises (as usual), and my program kept on returning errors. I’ve already spent a good amount of time editing and checking my work for errors, but I can’t find any. I even asked my professor for help but even he can’t figure out what’s wrong with the program. Apparently, a classmate was experiencing the same frustrating dilemma. I guess the frustration got the best of her and she burst into tears! Told you it was that frustrating!

By the end of the day, I feel like I’ve used up all my brain cells. I felt like a zombie going home. When I arrived at my in-laws to pick up my wife, I laid on the outside sofa covered with patio furniture covers and tried to relax and destress. I was initially planning on working some more on my program but thought better and instead focused on destressing.

The next day was the same, but somehow, it was a little bit easier. I guess I’m getting used to the stress, or maybe I’m getting good at handling stress.

not just me

June 26, 2010

I initially thought that school would be easy. After all, I was a student once. Oh boy! I was dead wrong!

The first few days were a bit easy, but that’s because I attended the two-week Bridge Class. But now that new lessons are being added, I’m finding it difficult integrating everything. But I’m not the only one. Some of my classmates, IT graduates themselves, sometimes have a hard time figuring it out too. So I guess it’s only normal that I have a difficult time too.

But what’s great is the camaraderie. Whenever we can, we try to help each other out. Which explains why most of the time, during breaks, we’d have out netbooks out and helping each other with whatever we can contribute. You know what they say, two heads are better than one. What more with multiple heads!
