Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. -Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

my day: breakfast

October 10, 2008

I was really happy when I woke up that day, partly because it’s my birthday and I’m really excited with the favors (*hint*) I’ll be getting, and mostly because I’m not in the office working (and by working I mean blog hopping, surfing, and other very important stuff). Then I realized that my wife wasn’t beside me. I figured she must be at the bathroom or preparing breakfast. I don’t think she’d be able to do both at the same time. ;) Anyway, while I was mulling this, a balloon pops. When my wife came back to bed all sweaty and looking flustered, she tried so hard to act “normal” and made it look like she just came from the bathroom. So to burst her bubble (no pun intended) I said “I think one of your balloons popped.” You should have seen her face! It was real funny seeing her like that and realizing that her surprise had been foiled! We both laughed!

That morning, my wife prepared my favorite breakfast, that is, bacon, fried egg, fried dilis flakes (with vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper sauce), and fried rice, a breakfast-in-bed treat that I only get every Sunday morning. Oh the cholesterol! ;) I was watching Friends on DVD and having breakfast in bed. This is the life! But as I reach for the coffee, imagine my horror when the vinegar sauce dropped to the bed! To think we had new sheets! Oh man! My wife is going to beat me to death, and on my birthday! How tragic is that? It was one of those days when I was thankful for birthdays, my birthday. So with the bed reeking garlic and vinegar, we finished our breakfast. She then asked me to go to the dining room, where I saw the balloons and cake. It was really great! I almost cried! Ok, I didn’t. But it was real nice.

Awww!!! That is so sweet of your wife! Fried dilis! Sure sounds so delicious. I’m tired of eating bacon here since that is our normal breakfast and if we are too lazy to go out or cook dinner that is what I prepare for the hubs and the little one…easy to prepare… just pop it into the microwave and voila! Tsk..tsk…tsk… how pathetic? I do want to fry some tinapa and tuyo but just thinking of the pungent smell I would say never mind hahaha…

Jetty: Fried dilis is delicious! We first tried it in Bora. I try to have bacon only on Sundays, because I’m, uhm, on a diet. ;)

maidapaypay: Breakfast in bed every Sunday is such a treat that I always look forward to! You should also do that. I’m sure he’ll love it.
