Remember when I wrote about that very, very nice car I saw at The Bellevue one early Sunday morning? Richard Gutierrez’s car? The Nissan GTR? Well, that car is in total ruin. What a shame.
I read yesterday that the said actor had an unfortunate accident along the northbound Sta. Rosa–Tagaytay Road at 1:30 AM, where he and his bodyguard were injured and which caused the death of his assistant. It’s an accident really. Nothing freaky. Just one bad accident on one poorly lit curved road.
Being frequent visitors to Tagaytay, we pass by that road all the time. And I agree, it is very poorly lit. Accident prone as the police admitted. And so with that knowledge, how come there were very few signs, if any, and shouldn’t they at least provide ample lighting to the accident-prone area? I’m guessing the authorities are waiting for a high-profile case such as this before they take action.
The Tagaytay area is bustling with charming, old and new, little B&B (bed and breakfast) inns that serve as fast hideaways for the metro’s toxic life and pollution. We go there to relax, listen to our ipods, watch a DVD movie, or to enjoy some delicious food. It’s not enough that just one particular area is developed. The road going there must be looked at too, and this means providing travelers with safe roads, one that has ample danger signs, traffic signs, and lighting.
when i saw it in the news, it reminded me of your post about the car. what a wreck..sayang ang kotse noh? good thing that richard survived. bad thing is about the misfortune of his assistant.
Posted by yummybite at May 24, 2009, 8:04 pmi read about this. may his PA’s soul be put to rest. I suggest talaga that people avoid driving in the countryside at night, if at all possible. hindi pa ganun ka equipped ang roads natin for it eh, I think.
Posted by mai da paypay at May 25, 2009, 11:37 ami heard that richard g was badly bruised because of the accident. i dont know if we have to thank him for what happened since now the government officials of the said place have promised to “look into” the area. i hope they do more than that and start really doing something before another accident occurs.
Posted by kaka at May 25, 2009, 5:13 pmnaku that area is really an accident-prone area. my brother-in-law also figured in an accident near that spot last month. he hit a post, spun around and hit another railing. good thing he was not hurt but his car was a total wreck as well.

oh, ito pala yun? whew, sayang naman, but then, bakit naman pinabayaang poorly lit ang lugar na yun? hayyy… minsan talaga, alam na nila ang kulang, it needs a lot more accidents pa to touch their conscience…
