While many people like clear blue skies, I prefer dark clouds. I prefer the rain. And I’m lovin our current weather. It’s just a big bummer though that a little rain equates to floods. Still, I like rains, even if it means getting ones Dansko shoes wet. I can always dry wet clothes and shoes. Come to think of it, I can’t remember when I last went out and played in the rain, just like I used to do when I was a kid.
And what better way to compliment the cool weather than a steaming bowl of chicken tinola, my all time favorite comfort food! I’m itching to go home and have ourselves one for dinner.
And you know what made this day better, knowing that Wednesday is a holiday. I have a feeling that this is going to be a better week.
It’s a sad day for all Filipinos, I’m sure. One of the greatest leaders of our country has passed away. She was former President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino. At 3:18 AM, she died of cardiorespiratory arrest at the Makati Medical Center.
Early last year, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. And in the last weeks, we’ve been barraged with updates from all forms of media regarding her deteriorating health. For a moment there, the whole nation became aware of colon cancer, colonetix, and cancer treatments.
Campaigns for prayers of healing were everywhere. Yellow ribbons are seen in houses and cars. Having the whole Filipino nation pray for someone is a big feat. And it says a lot about that person. I don’t think she’ll ever be forgotten. Along with her hero of a husband Senator Benigno Ninoy Aquino Jr., she’ll always be remembered as that person who ousted a dictator. And if only for that, she’ll always be somebody great.
Condolences to the Aquinos and Cojuangcos. Condolences to us all.
