Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. -Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

first fro-yo

October 30, 2009

whitehat

After salivating for months, we finally had the chance to try frozen yogurt (now popularly called fro-yo). I’ve read a LOT of buzz about this for several months, and we had the chance to try it. Of all the new fro-yo stores sprouting around the metro, we got to try White Hat!

For newbies like us, we stayed at the safe side and ordered a regular-sized for-yo with peaches and mangoes as toppings.

It was delicious! No wonder people are crazy about fro-yos. It was tangy at first but then the sweetness creeps in. I can eat a mouthful and not get brain freeze. The mangoes and peaches just add another depth to the flavor. We can’t wait to come back and try the other toppings as well. Maybe something with a bit of crunch (people with dental implants Mexico should be careful though), maybe some walnuts and cereals!

cool change

christmas decor

Have you noticed that the weather has been starting to get a wee bit cold lately? What a cool reminder about the coming Christmas eh?! Time to get the electric blanket out of the closet and brace ourselves for the cold months.

We plan to decorate our apartment this year and so we’re scouting for a good but cheap Christmas tree and all the trimmings and decors that go with it.

How about you?

tv and dancing

I just finished my early lunch at the canteen and can’t help but rush back to my work area when there’s still more than 40 minutes left on my lunch break.

Since it’s a Saturday, there’s not much “action” here. Very few people means very few things to entertain myself. So I was left to relying on the canteen TV for entertainment. Of course we don’t have Commercial Direct TV here at the canteen, but I really think we should. Why?

aircrash

A Direct TV for Business should work really well. Lots of channels and lots of ways for customers to entertain themselves. And the more time we spent lounging there, the more food we eat. But the current cable TV only has a few channels, and it’s almost always tuned to Discovery Channel featuring the appetizing Air Crash Investigation. How’s that to start your appetite?! That’s why the canteen concessionaire should really look at Direct TV Business. Watching people screaming and dying isn’t really good for people hungrily buying/eating food.

One more reason for getting Directv Business is so my wife and I can catch up on cable tv. I never thought we’d last without it but ever since we got married, we didn’t have cable. Our tv time was mostly spent watching movies and TV series on DVDs. And in a few more months, it’ll be two years straight!

So I guess you’re thinking what we do when we have that precious extra free time? Well, we talk and share stories. Sometimes we sing. But we have the most fun dancing!

Taal Vista promo

October 23, 2009

promo

For those of you who have no plans yet for the weekend, you guys might want consider Taal Vista’s new promo. Until November 30, they have the following rates:

From Sunday to Thursday, their weekday rates are Php2600 and Php2888 for the Heritage and New Wings, respectively.

From Friday and Saturday, their weekend rates are Php2888 and Php3200 for the Heritage and New Wings, respectively.

This is quite cheap compared with other hotels/inns. I suggest ditching the rv and not worry about rv towing and get to experience luxury at an affordable price. Those this promo does not include breakfast, it’s a great excuse to sample Josephine’s weekend buffets!

apartment hunting

apartment

Nothing is constant but change.

We’ve been living in our current apartment for more than a year now. Everything is fine. And we’re quite happy with it. It’s a place where we can “breathe.”

The only real problem is the garage. The car doesn’t fit. So the car is parked outside, by the street. And since we live a few houses away from a public elementary school, you can only imagine the “beating” the car gets when the classes are over. Kids would drag their little hands from end to end. After more than a year. our car has accumulated a lot of “bruises.” And I can’t have it repaired until we move.

And with that, we decided for change. We’ve been looking at apartments for rent for a few weeks now. We found one that looks good. The owner is currently having it repainted, a new front door is installed, and a few more things are being repaired. There’s also a spacious garage.

If we can persuade the owner to lower the rent to within our budget, we’d gladly move in. If not, then we can look at another one.
