One of the disadvantages of having your own site is that you are responsible for everything, as in every tiny detail like header, footer, sidebars for live chat and adverts, and other options. And my main site (Buhay Bahay-Bahayan) is no different from everyone else’s.
About a month ago, I noticed that the amount of Spam comments has rapidly increased. Usually, I’d get around 100 Spam comments everyday caught by Akismet, a plugin I used. And I scan all of these comments as some legit ones are accidentally being tagged as Spam.
But for the past month, it has dramatically increased to around 500 a day. Naturally, I can’t scan all 500 comments everyday, So it piles up, which slows down the site (I think) and I then have to just delete all Spam without scanning, loosing (possibly some) legit comments too.
About three days ago, I chanced upon this Wordpress plugin that blocks Spam comments. It’s called WP Captcha Free, and it is just awesome. If you have a Wordpress site, I really, really think that you should have this. Really.
