Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. -Max Ehrmann, Desiderata

Yuan’s car

Back in my day, we were too poor to buy toys. Really, who needs toys when you have playmates ready to play at the break of dawn, even before having breakfast. One just needs to clap their hands to signal that a playmate is already waiting outside. I don’t think I have a playmate then who needs to know how to lose belly fat fast from being overweight. We’d play from sunrise to sunset. And when the moon is particularly bright one night, which is perfect for playing taguan (hide and seek), we’d play some more.

I’m sometimes amazed when I see the toys that kids have these days. They have it good. Online PC games, Facebook, PS3, and PSP. Real good. Just look at Yuan’s latest toy.

And to give you a bit of perspective on how big his car is, here’s a shot with an old jeep in the background.

It’s a battery-powered car. It has a pedal, much like a real car, that the rider can use to steer the car. But since Yuan is still too young to operate it himself, it also has a remote control that we can use so he can still ride it. The lights work too!

I want one too. :)

when i was a kid, i loved the park! the monkey bars and the seesaw and the swing!

we played cops and robbers, patintero.. black 123, taguan.. name it!

iba na panahon ngayon.. its more virtual.. kaya madaming kids na “healthy” kasi they don’t get to excercise that much anymore..

ngayon kahit bata marunong gumamit ng PC..

good example : ME.. i used to be athletic, then i joined the bandwagon and got fat hehe dahil sa non-excercise.. machines that make life easy.. (but ofcourse i don’t blame technology.. wala din ako disiplina sa sarili..)

/jealous sa toy car niya….. if only I’D fit!

rico how true! the only toys I had were barbies and walking dolls, and they ended up being butchered when all of us neighborhood kids got bored. imagination was more cool than technology when we were kids

we don’t have that much luxury when we were kids too, and it’s a good thing that today, my kids experience that kind of luxury because of my hubby’s first cousin who works as DH in HK and sends all reusable trash of his alaga, even books, and lotsa lots of electric powered toys…so nice…
