How can you not fall in love with this kid? Aside from the good genes, his mom’s organic prenatal vitamin must have helped a lot. He is just the cutest!
Yuan doesn’t really know how to kiss, but he can do hugs. When you ask him for one kiss, he’d either give you a flying kiss, complete with “mwuah,” or he’d put his cheek so you can land one on him. When we joined them for breakfast this morning and my MIL told him to give his Nong-nong a kiss, he opened his mouth and proceeded to press it with mine. I tried to move my face away but he persisted to get closer. I finally land one on him, and we were all laughing.
We’d really miss him when he and his dad finally go to New Zealand on February 5.
Several days ago, as we were driving home, we decided to grab a light snack in Paseo de Magallanes. And with Golden Spoon being the newest contender for yet another frozen yogurt store here in Manila, we decided to treat my wife’s brother and cousin who was with us.
In contrast to most yogurt stores out there that has this sour and tangy flavor, Golden Spoon tastes like a creamy ice cream. Yup! Like a real ice cream. Made from California Grade A milk and the finest all-natural ingredients, I don’t know what process they did but it sure doesn’t taste like regular frozen yogurt. And at only 25 calories per ounce, dieters will surely love this (click here for weight loss supplements). What’s more is that they have flavors. We were able to try New York Cheesecake (which my wife and I shared), Strawberry, and Simply Tart. What’s funny is that we’ve all been expecting to taste the yogurt’s sourness only to be surprised that its just like ice cream.
As we all know, in addition to calcium, yogurt is also packed with good bacteria to help digestion. And with Golden Spoon’s ice cream like taste, I’m sure this will be a hit. But as for us, we still like our froyo to have that sour tangy taste.
It’s currently Top Chef season again in our house as a friend here at the office finished downloading episodes (via torrent) and graciously gave us a copy.
In case you don’t know, Top Chef is a reality TV show featuring real chefs battling it out by doing various food challenges. The winners get USD125,000 in addition to other goodies that the contestants get as the show goes. It’s really fun and exciting, and the “drama” created as these contestants live together and compete for the title gives that added entertainment.
Aside from the food porn, what keeps me glued is the beautiful host Padma Lakshmi sashaying as she samples the food created by the chefs. Excluding my wife, whom I totally worship and is beyond comparison in beauty inside and out, Padma, at 40 years old, is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen (she must be using top wrinkle creams). It seems like every wave and every gesture is beauty. Don’t believe me? Goggle her.
Anyway, we’re down to the last few episodes and there’s just 5 of them left. We’ll probably finish watching it tonight. I can’t wait.
For more than a week now, we’ve had new canteen operators. And so far, we have nothing but good/satisfactory things to say about them.
One of the first things I noticed is that there is an ample number of food servers. The last canteen operator had their cashier also serving food. Can you just imagine her handling money and then scooping food? Talk about serious sanitary concerns right? What if she’s using home treatment for hemorrhoids, forgot to wash hands, and then served food? Because clearly those people don’t know hygiene. And on one of their last days, a friend found a cockroach in her order of menudo! YUM!
Another thing I noticed is the good variety of food available. They offer so much comestible that you’d have a hard time picking. The food they serve are actually palatable. I’m currently loving the halo-halo and mais con hielo.
And the last thing is that they have this segregation going on. Customers are encouraged to separate plastics, papers and styro in the trash bins, and we have separate basins for used plates, cups, spoons, forks, and trays. Good job!
I just hope they keep at it. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed.
My wife and I are currently at war. Not with our weights though because we have diet supplements for that. We have declared an all out war at the pesky ants that seem to show almost as fast as a little morsel of food falls on the floor. And not only that, one time I even saw them munching on some of the stored candles in the cabinets. It was the first time I saw ants literally devouring candles! And what’s more weird it that I saw them crawling on our cotton swabs! I mean these are clean new cotton swabs. There was nothing in it.
Armed with poisonous ant baits called Terro Ant Killer, we placed it on where ants usually pass by. The bait does not kill the ants instantly. Instead, the ants will think of it as food and will bring it home, feeding the other ants, larvae, and queen, which will eventually kill them all. The product says that it will kill the ants in about two weeks. Once or twice a day, we refill the baits. And it’s quite fun seeing the ants taking a small piece and carrying it back home.
Now to wait!
Naging Mahirap
At kanyang plano’y magka-bahay tayo?
Si Villar ang tunay na mahirap.
Si Villar ang tunay na may malasakit.
Si Villar ang may kakayahan
At gumawa ng sariling pangalan.
Si Manny Villar ang magtatapos ng ating kahirapan.
This is not an endorsement!
I would disclose though that I did vote for him (MV) as senator, along with other artistas taking the best hgh supplement. Back then, I filled the empty slots of my list with the most good-looking candidates. Early last year, when Mar was still gunning for the presidential seat, I was thinking of voting him all because Korina would make a beautiful first lady. But then Cory died, and Noy (with his mouth agate and profusely sweating) found himself running for the presidential seat too.
Anyway, MV’s campaign jingle/ad on the last election was quite catchy. And his presidential campaign jingle/ad now is so catchy that I’ve singing it for days already. I’m sure you’ve all seen/heard it. And the funny thing is when kids hear/see the ad, they stop what they are doing and start singing along too!
Last year’s annual Christmas dinner with my wife’s girlfriends (and their husbands) way back from their CSA days is one for the books. Great times, as always, with good friends and excellent food. The gracious F. and M. were our host again. This time though, our tables were decked in red to make it more festive. Silver cutlery, crystal glasses, and white plates with snowflakes elegantly etched on the sides were arranged for our simple feast. Citronella candles were scattered around the spacious garden to ward of mosquitoes, and the effect of the dim lights created just the perfect setting.
We had a really wonderful pumpkin soup (made by my MIL), Mango Oriental Salad with crunchy hito croutons (care of R., who’s the only one yet to give us wedding invitations), baked tahong and prawns (from F. and M.), steamed lapu-lapu and pork bbq (from D. and JC), and a Belgian chocolate cake (sent by KG). We also had an assortment of softdrinks, juices, and bottles of Asti.
Of course we had to play Pinoy Henyo too! It was men versus women, and the women won (cheaters!).
We’re already looking forward to this year’s dinner.
We’re in dire need of additional cabinets in our new apartment. The old apartment had huge cabinets to hold our stuff, whereas this new apartment had one small cabinet, which of course was only able to hold a small fraction of the junk, I mean stuff, that we’ve accumulated over the years.
I was hoping to have something like these custom made to fit our new home: one for the kitchen
and one to serve as our work area on the second bedroom.
But as I was looking at some of the designs online, I also saw these beautiful sofas or patio furniture cushions that my wife liked.
Quite colorful aren’t they, but not too girly at the same time. Plus they add a lot of character to the room.
