Ok. So I’m starting to read mommy blogs (I have yet to find a substantial daddy blog). And by mommy blogs I mean mommies who primarily talk about their babies and kids, and how to feed them, entertain them, keep them alive, that sort of thing. You get the picture right? So anyway, the first real gem I found so far is probably SimpleMom. Now I’ve yet to read her past posts but her latest one is truly helpful. It’s about the essentials for a newborn baby. You know why. If you’re curious about the article, you can see it here.
One thing that struck me was that we basically have all of these, apart from diapers and home insurance of course. You see, when Yuan left, he basically left all his things too. Of course one of last year’s greatest accomplishment was to be debt free. And He made it all happen in perfect order. And I just can’t seem to grasp how perfect our baby’s arrival is. He made it perfect. Before finally giving us the opportunity to have a baby, He made sure that we’ll have the things we need. And I am just in awe at how things are falling into place.
In spite of Q arriving weeks before his expected due date, we had everything in order: crib, car seat, stroller, diapers, clothes, etc.
But we prefer to let Q sleep on the bed especially during the 1st two months when babies wake up every 2 hrs to feed. It’s easier and more practical. And we were so praning about SIDS that we really wanted him to co-sleep. The only downside is that my husband was demoted to a mattress on the floor since we only have a queen size bed :p
The car seat is a must for me! Even if our laws are not the same as other countries, I find comfort knowing he’s strapped safely while inside the car.
We got the normal baby carrier from Chicco. We initially bought the sling-type but found it hard to maneuver.
When we first found out we were pregnant, we wanted to buy the top-of-the-line stroller like Quinny. But it costs an arm and a leg and we decided to just save the money to add to our hospital fund. We opted for the Chicco umbrella stroller but I would suggest getting the lightweight Japanese strollers like Aprica or Combi (checkout Youji & Me or Rustan’s Makati they have more choices).
I love onesies! Go to Greenhills or bazaars for affordable Carter overruns. But if you don’t have time to travel that far, there’s a store in ATC called peek a boo which sells these for a slightly higher price (195 each).
BTW, who’s your OB?
