Sony camcorder

March 11, 2010

We were in Glorietta two days ago to check out the BPI Express Credit Installment Madness Sale that’s happening until the end of March. We were primarily there to window shop for an aircon. But coming into the Sony booth had us drooling for their camcorders. One of our plans was to buy a camcorder for the baby, and those we saw were drool worthy. We initially thought that buying one would cost the same thing as getting an orlando timeshare. But we were surprised to see one particular model at just around Php19,000. We talked to the salesman, and he did the demo.

They actually have three types of camcorders. The first type is an advanced amateur/professional camcorder, the kind people use to make movies or short films. This is too pricey and too professional. The second type is called a high-definition camcorder. Now this one was smaller and lighter. It has awesome features and great specs, but the price was way, waaaay, our budget. And the third type is called standard definition camcorder. The particular model that we saw had 4 GB of embedded flash memory (expandable with an additional memory slot), 60x optical zoom (Wow!) and 2000x digital zoom (to better see those pores, of course), a 2.7 inch panel display, and is powered by a Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens.

This can be yours at staggered payments for 12 to 18 months. As always, I asked he could give us a discount if we pay cash (the benefits of paying cash). He went to his supervisor and we got an initial quote of just Php17,000. I further pressed on and he said he could arrange something to get the price lower. Incidentally, KG’s sister is also looking for a camcorder. We will have to talk to her and see if we could get bigger discounts if we will get two units.

We also bought a Sony Camcorder and put it on installment. We’re done paying for it! :) YEY! It’s sooo sulit! We use it to capture every single moment w/ Quino :)

I don’t have a (big) camcorder yet. I only take videos using the digicam and the Flip Video (which is very handy since it’s smaller than a cellphone). I’d try to check the camcorders’ prices in the UAE.
